BERRY'S STORY
At Live Free Hypnosis, I am not going to judge you or criticize you for your life choices. As an adult you are free to make your own choices in life. You are already well aware of the consequences of being a smoker and choosing to continue to smoke. I'm sure you, like me often feel like you are being attacked from all angles of your life, from your spouse or significant other, from your family, your friends, your co-workers, the media, the government, your religious affiliation and so on. They have exhausted all the reasons you "must" quit today. And I'm sure you like me are well aware of the consequences of continuing to smoke for another year, maybe another five years or ten.
As a former smoker myself, I understand these pressures from outside influences. I wanted to quit for several years, I knew it was the smart thing to do, I hated how guilty those around me made me feel. I hated the coughing and the smell on my clothes and in my car, the cost in cigarettes and higher insurance premiums, sometimes hiding my tobacco habit for fear of being ostracized. I knew, just like you now know that your smoking days are coming to an end. You are reading this for a reason, you are standing at the edge of the cliff ready to give up your tobacco habit forever, but how?
I reached that point in my life, I was ready to stop smoking. I explored different avenues but I didn't like the idea of using prescribed drugs, nicotine gum, the patch or an electric cigarette. One of my reasons for quitting was to remove the toxic chemicals from my body not replace these toxic chemicals with others, to me it seemed counterintuitive. I chose the Dum Dum approach, where every time you have a craving, you pop a Dum Dum Lollipop into your mouth. I had a strong will but it was not easy, the cravings were miserable at times. I did well though and did not smoke a cigarette for over two months. I was feeling mighty proud of myself, I had kicked the habit, no easy feat. And then it happened, a series of unfortunate events over the course of a few days. I lit up once again and started smoking more than I ever had before. You see, I had broken the habit but I hadn't addressed the emotional component. I had this overwhelming feeling of stress which I could not get rid of. I felt awful and the only way I knew to distract from this feeling was to smoke a cigarette.
It took awhile but I finally decided it was time for me to quit again. I was driving home from work one evening and heard a hypnotist being interviewed on the radio and was intrigued by his claims to help people quit smoking with little or no cravings. I did some more research and read about the benefits of quitting smoking with hypnosis, I have to level with you, I wasn't truly convinced hypnosis could work for me. But I'm sure you like me, have reached a point in your life where you just want to be rid of the smoking habit, you're desperate. Around this time my father was diagnosed with a lung disease, I had to quit! My experience using hypnosis to quit smoking was astounding. My desire to pick up a cigarette and place it into my mouth quickly began to fade. I have been a non-smoker ever since. My quit date was July 12, 2010. When is your quit date?
I was so amazed at the ease I quit smoking that I had to learn more about hypnosis. I wanted to know everything there was. I read many books and read tons of articles online, I soon discovered that hypnosis has been used to help people in many areas of their lives. From stress and anxiety, to quitting smoking and losing weight, as well as anesthesia for surgeries and child birth. I found many athletes and celebrities have used hypnosis for various reasons from enhancing their skills to ridding themselves of phobias. I concluded that hypnosis is an amazing tool that can help everyday people with everyday problems. Today I continue coaching and helping people to achieve the results they desire. I am still amazed at the change I see in my clients. They often surprise themselves with the changes they create in their lives.

I discovered in the book, "The Secret Language of Feelings" by Cal Banyan, that everything we do "too much of", whether it be smoking, drinking, drugs, eating, working, sleeping, chocolate, shopping, gambling, television, sports and so on stems from a negative feeling or emotion inside of us. An emotion such as anger, guilt, boredom, stress, fear, sadness and loneliness. Whenever we feel a certain way that we don't like we try to distract from that feeling. Whenever a negative feeling creeps into our mind that makes us feel bad, it is our number one desire to want to feel better. Many times in doing so we distract from bad feelings, instead of addressing the problem. As a smoker these bad feelings come to us in the form of a "craving", the longer we go without a cigarette the more painful the craving becomes. How do we get rid of the craving? We smoke another cigarette, a temporary fix. At Live Free Hypnosis we have a system in place that is designed to eradicate that feeling or craving. If the bad feeling is not there then the desire to distract from the feeling goes away. I look forward to meeting you.
